Spotify's Paying U.S. Users Have Grown by 42%... →
Shows you how tough it is to make money in the streaming music business… need a lot of scale.
Mobile ad revenue is such a big part of Pandora’s valuation (52% if you believe the Trefis.com model). I think without the launch of their Smartphone (particularly the iPhone) apps, they would be in much worse shape today.

Excited for this, but as my good buddy says, “Android feels a little too much like using X Windows” for me to want to switch away from the iPhone/iPad. That said, I really hope Amazon nails it like they have with the Kindle and gives Apple some competition.

It’s amazing how much better the independent bloggers are at estimating Apple’s financials Vs professional equity research analysts at major banks. Horace Dediu at Asymco is probably my favorite of the blogs listed.

Cable Industry Shares Its Obsession With Netflix... →
I don’t think people are talking about this the right way… the reality is that product/market fit in paid TV/film products is WAY out of balance. Most people only see value in a small fraction of their cable subscription, but would gladly pay less for less channels (or to select the ones they want).
Netflix is providing something that people are willing to pay less for (primarily...

JP Morgan: 40% of iPad owners have Kindles too →
I’m certainly in this camp. Kindle is a MUCH better reading device (easier on the eyes, still looks good in the sun, lighter, smaller, etc.) I’m not surprised at all.
That said, I still use the Kindle apps regularly to ‘snack’ on a few pages on my iPhone or iPad now and again when I don’t have the Kindle handy.
