» Microsoft Courier User Interface In Depth
Pretty cool overview of a new tablet PC concept Microsoft is calling “courier”. Rumor is that they’ll actually build (or hire someone to) this. We’ll see…

» Introducing Google Analytics for Mobile Apps
Google released a version of Google Analytics for iPhone and Android applications.
The coolest thing no one is talking about is the ability for Android Market to track referrals. This means that you can actually measure what the conversion rate/ROI is on any marketing campaign you run for an Android application.
No real solution for this on iPhone today.

» 2010 Zagat Released, Usual Suspects Reign--People still use Zagat?
I will admit I have the 2009 edition sitting on my coffee table, but I can definitely say I haven’t found a great new restaurant via Zagat in longer than I can remember.
Food blogs, review sites and foodie friends tend to be much more useful.

» iPhone App Store Developers Aren't Getting Rich
Interesting article in Newsweek…
Overwhelming competition, difficult discovery and the rapid race to the bottom of the pricing chart ($0-$0.99) is making it increasingly more difficult to make a decent sustainable profit.
I think at some point developers will be forced to walk away/deprioritize iPhone, raise their prices gradually, move to another platform with some price floor or alternate models (see: subscription).
With no fewer than 6 imminent Android OS phone launches in the US, I think that marketplace may have a chance to pick up steam. Of course Android Market is not without its own problems—any user can return your app for a full refund within 24 hours—sorry game developers! (note: Gaming is the most popular category in mobile apps)
